Here’s how to smash your to-do list and achieve your goals Everyday!

Running late on your schedule yet again? For umpteenth time you have written out your to-do list and somehow have failed to follow through. What’s really wrong with me? “Why on earth is this thing so hard”? You ask!

Time and again you find yourself procrastinating, and even procrastinating on your procrastination….that is postponing your schedules that have already been postponed beforehand.

somehow success just seems so evasive!

Finding the motivation to smash your goals and tick off tasks from your to-do list is simple in theory, but Not quite a piece of cake in practice.

Staying motivated, doesn’t come easy, getting rid of laziness and procrastination is not a walk in the park. It takes conscious, deliberate effort to stay motivated.
have you set a goal to take a course in programming or to learn a new language? Here are a few handy tips on how to get tasks done at the right time.

Plan your day:  Isn’t this the one million and one time you are hearing this, you probably would keep hearing it until it sticks. Take out time the day before to write out the things you need to achieve for the next day. Write it down on your planner. Let’s face it, planning your day doesn’t guarantee that you would get things done as and when you should, talking about some of the unforeseen contingencies that could occur, however, it’s a great head start, When you have your goals for the day mapped out, you are one step closer to getting it done.

Stay motivated: smashing those goals would be a lot easier when you surround yourself with people who motivate and inspire you. Take out time everyday to peek into the lives of the people who inspire you, see how far they have come and how much they have been able to achieve with the little resources available to them. Watch some really good motivational movies and listen to good music, It actually helps if you are feeling low and unmotivated.

Become an early bird: whenever I say this I pass judgement on myself! As an official member of the night owl community, I must confess the journey to becoming a morning person hasn’t been a smooth ride, it’s really hard to join the train of early birds, however, research has shown that early birds achieve more in life because they have more time on their hands. Incorporate this into your lifestyle gradually, take baby steps. Try 7:00-7:30 am and see how you can progress to waking up earlier. Like they say, early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy and wealthy and wise.

Eat healthy:  if you feel constantly weak, you sure won’t be able to get any work done! Health is wealth. Lack of proper body care can lead to a low level of productivity. This would certainly affect your overall performance. Endeavour to eat healthy and stay strong mentally, physically and emotionally.

Never stop trying: if you try once or twice and don’t succeed, try again! Skills are mastered over time through practice and consistency! There may be occasions where you would find yourself unable to meet up with all your proposed plans, don’t get weary! Most people get tired of trying after several attempts at setting assignments and being unable to meet up with the deadline. Whatever pending work you have left or are unable to meet up with, move them over to the priority list for the next day or the next week and see to it that these goals are accomplished.

Set reminders:  a reminder can go a long way in helping you snap back to the reality at hand. When the alarm to remind you of a pending work goes off, it brings to your consciousness the things that you have set out to do. Stop cheating on yourself. Cut down on the amount of time spent gaming, scrolling through your Facebook feeds or sitting idle.

Set realistic targets: the first step to failing on your schedule for the day is by setting unachievable goals, set SMART ( specific, measurable, agreed upon, realistic, time-based) goals. Start small and progress gradually. Endeavour to take on small tasks at first, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a step so don’t be afraid to go easy on this one. Stay active daily, if you have huge targets break them into pieces and get little chunks of it done everyday.

And there you have it! Never forget to celebrate your small wins. It motivates you to do more!

Have you been smashing your goals lately? What has your experience been so far with getting your tasks done? Let’s hear your thoughts!
