Detach yourself from the past

You should understand that you can’t change the past, somethings can never be undone.

Accept your past mistakes, forgive yourself and everybody involved, and detach from them.

When you are still connected to the past, anxiety, self-guilt and depression may build up, affecting your chances of being a better person in the present and affecting your ability to make better decisions.

Accept Your Imperfections

You are not superhuman; you are not perfect. Don’t let Disney make you think you can be a flawless superhuman.

Accept your human imperfections with joy. This will help you be at peace with your friends, and you will be able to point out the aspects of your life where you need to put in more work and effort.

Accepting your imperfections will help you develop better plans to mitigate them by employing technology or developing strategic human relationships.

Focus on the Present

You can’t do anything about the past, and the future lies in uncertainty.

The present is the only time you have the power to change and influence, so endeavor to use it wisely.

Your present should be your major focus, as it helps determine your future. There are a number of activities you will have to carry out in this stage. They are:

  • Developing a plan
  • Setting and defining your goal (in all aspects of your life)
  • Setting new value system and standards
  • Developing positive habits
  • Define your motivation
  • Get committed to time management
  • Learn a current relevant skill or knowledge
  • Make new friends and networks
  • Keep a journal to track your progress

The above exercise will help you start a new life, a purposeful one with a direction.

Ensure you track your progress periodically. It can be daily or weekly. Ensure you carry out a task or activity once in a while, don’t try to juggle things together.

When you are tired, learn to rest and bounce back to plan. You can also have an accountability partner to keep you in check at all times.

Evaluation

This is to checkmate your progress against your stated goals and plans to determine the percentage of improvement and alignment.

Evaluation helps you to understand the part you need to put more effort in or ask for assistance. Always remember,  evaluation is time-bound.

This means you need to get committed to time. You can take a time management course to help out.

Timing is good, but when you don’t meet up to your specific timing, please don’t beat yourself. You can evaluate yourself, but you must ensure you are honest.

You can allow your mentor, a life coach, or accountability partner to assess you.

Conclusion

You can reset your life and make a fortune out of it anytime. You are never too old to start all over. You need discipline, courage, and honesty to start and scale through. Never stop trying to achieve happiness.

I love this so much. I think the biggest takeaway here is acceptance. Lack of acceptance and constantly trying to change things you can change will absolutely ruin your days.
